We keep hearing the staggering statistics about obesity in America and how we should fight back against it. Most Americans are surrounded with fast food venues like McDonald’s, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and other local fast food restaurants. Especially in an economic situation that the majority of Americans find themselves in, such as, having to work multiple jobs, having no choice but to go to a nearby fast food restaurant for a quick meal. This is also due to the lack of time and sometimes laziness of people that weight lossdon’t prepare simple meals like, sandwiches or wraps at home instead of buying at a fast food restaurant.

The majority of food choices that are available on the menu are high in calories, high in sodium, processed ingredients, and high in sugars. In addition to all of this, most Americans don’t an active lifestyle and most of them work at jobs where they don’t need to be active at all. Those who work at warehouses, construction, or landscaping, are more physically active than a person that works at an office job. In this kind of environment, the individual will easily gain weight. Also, many people tend to put excuses for justifying why they don’t have time to do exercise.

Diet change

Many health experts and bloggers have stated that the simplest way to fight against obesity is a diet change. This way you have control on what ingredients you put into your desserts and you get to enjoy eating desserts once in awhile with much less calories. Try eating more vegetables in your diet such as, spinach, roman lettuce, green peppers, red radishes, string beans, and broccoli. Reduce carbohydrates in your diet like bread, potatoes, rice, and pasta.

Although, carbohydrates is not the enemy for weight loss but it is necessary for the body in limited quantities to produce energy. Also add more protein to your diet; protein helps the body to convert fat into energy and has the complete amino acid that helps the body to build muscle. Eating fruits like, mango, rash berries, blue berries, bananas, oranges, pineapples, and apples are also beneficial to your diet. Don’t forget about adding grains and nuts like, pistachios, peanuts, almonds, and cashews for good source of fiber.
